First Hadith

Amirul Mukminin Abu Hafsh ‘Umar bin Khaththab RA said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: Verily, deeds depend on their intentions and each person will get according to his intentions. So, whoever hijrahs to Allah and His Messenger then hijrahs to Allah and His Messenger, and whoever hijrahs to the world he wants to gain or the woman he wants to marry then hijrahs to what he hijrahs to.

Narrated by two imams of hadith experts: Abu Abdillah Muhammad bin Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Al-Mughirah bin Bardizbah Al-Bukhari and Abul Husain Muslim bin Hajjaj bin Muslim Al-Qushairi An-Naisaburi in both of their Sahih books which are the two most authentic books ever compiled.

Second Hadith

‘Umar RA also reported: One day we were with the Messenger of Allah (SAW) when there came to us a man whose clothes were very white, his hair very black, he did not appear to be traveling, and none of us knew him. Then he sat down facing the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), leaned his knees against his knees, and placed his palms on his thighs. He asked, “O Muhammad! Tell me about Islam.

So, the Messenger of Allah SWA said: Islam is you swearing by lâ ilâha illâllâh and muhammadur rasûlûllâh, establishing prayer, paying zakat, fasting Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House of Allah if you are able to travel the path.

The man said, “You are right.” We marveled at him, he who asked the question and confirmed it at the same time.

The man said again, “Tell me about faith!” He replied, “You believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and you believe in good and bad destiny.” The man replied, “You are right.”

He said again, “Tell me about ihsan!” He replied, “You worship Allah as if you see Him. If you cannot see Him, then indeed He sees you.

He said, “Tell me about the Day of Judgment!” He replied, “The one who is asked does not know more than the one who asks.

He said again, “Tell me about the signs.” He replied, “If a slave girl gives birth to her master, and if you see people who are barefoot, unclothed, poor, and sheepherders boasting about raising buildings.”

Then the man left. I remained silent for a while, then he said, “O ‘Umar! Do you know who the questioner was?” I replied, “Allah and His Messenger know better.” He said, “He is Jibril who came to you to teach you your religion.” Hr. Muslim

Third Hadith

From Abu Abdirrahman Abdullah bin ‘Umar bin Khaththab RA, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: Islam is built on five things: the creed of lâ ilâha illâllâh and muhammadur rasûlûllâh, establishing prayer, paying zakat, pilgrimage to the House of Allah, and fasting Ramadan. HR. Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Fourth Hadith

Abu Abdirrahman Abdullah bin Mas’ud RA reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) narrated to us, and he is a truthful man and his truthfulness is recognized, “Verily, one of you is gathered in his mother’s belly for forty days, then becomes a clot of blood for that long, then becomes a clot of flesh for that long, then an angel is sent to him to blow the spirit into him, and he is commanded four sentences: write his provision, his death, his deeds, and his woe or happiness.

By Allah whom no one has the right to worship but Him, indeed one of you actually did the deeds of the inhabitants of Paradise until the distance between him and Paradise was only an inch, then destiny overtook him, then he did the deeds of the inhabitants of Hell and he entered it.

Sixth Hadith

Abu Abdillah An-Nu’man bin Bashir RA reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: Verily, what is lawful is clear and what is unlawful is clear, and in between there are vague things that most people do not know. Whoever keeps himself from the doubtful (shubhat), indeed he has preserved his religion and honor, and whoever falls into the doubtful, will fall into the forbidden, like a shepherd who grazes around the forbidden land that will one day enter it. Know that every king has a prohibited limit. Know that the limit of Allah’s prohibition is what He has forbidden. Know that there is a lump of flesh in the body; if it is good, the whole body will be good, but if it is bad, the whole body will be bad. Know that this lump of flesh is the heart. HR: Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Seventh Hadith

Eighth Hadith

Ibn Umar reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said,: I was commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, establish prayer, and pay zakat. If they do these things, then they have kept their wealth and blood from me except by right of Islam, and their account is left to Allah. HR: Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Abu Hurairah RA reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (SAW) say: What I forbid you to do, avoid, and what I command you to do, do as much as you can. Abu Hurairah RA said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Verily Allah is good, accepting nothing but what is good. And verily Allah has commanded the believers as He commanded the Messengers, Allah said, ‘O Messengers eat of all that is good and do righteous deeds.’ And He said, ‘O you who believe, eat of the good things We have given you.’

Then he told the story of a man who traveled a long distance, his hair matted and dusty.

Abul ‘Abbas Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu reported: I was behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) one day when he said, “Little one! Verily, I will teach you one sentence: ‘Look after Allah, and Allah will look after you. Look after Allah, and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allah. When you ask for help, ask Allah for help. Know that if mankind were to unite to benefit you, they would not be able to benefit you except what Allah has written for you, and if they were to unite to cause you harm, they would not be able to cause you harm except what has been written for you. The pen has been raised and the page has dried.” (HR: At-Tirmidhi and said: Hadith hasan shahih)

In a narration other than At-Tirmidhi, “Guard Allah, then you will find Him before you. Recognize Allah in times of plenty, and He will recognize you in times of trouble. Know that what misses you will not miss you, and what misses you will not miss you. Know that help is with patience, that ease is with hardship, and that with hardship there is ease.”

Twentieth Hadith

Abu Abdillah Jabir ibn Abdillah Al-Anshari Radhiyallahu ‘Anhuma reported that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and said, “What do you think if I pray the obligatory prayers, fast Ramadan, make lawful what is lawful, forbid what is unlawful, and I do not add anything else, will I enter Paradise?” He replied, “Yes.” (HR. Muslim)

The meaning of “I forbid the unlawful” is “I avoid it”, and the meaning of “I make lawful” is “I do it believing it to be lawful”.

Twenty-first Hadith

Abu ‘Amr – some say Abu Amroh – Sufyan ibn ‘Abdillah Ats-Tsaqafi (Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu) reported: I said: “O Messenger of Allah, tell me a saying in Islam that I will not ask of anyone other than you”. He replied, “Say, ‘I believe in Allah!’ then be steadfast.” (HR Muslim)

Twenty-second Hadith

Abu Abdillah Jabir bin Abdillah Al-Anshari RA reported that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and said, “What do you think if I pray the obligatory prayers, fast Ramadan, make lawful what is lawful, forbid what is unlawful, and I do not add anything else, will I enter Paradise?” He replied, “Yes.” (HR. Muslim)

The meaning of “I forbid the unlawful” is “I avoid it”, and the meaning of “I make lawful” is “I do it believing it to be lawful”.

Twenty-third Hadith

Abu Malik Al-Harith bin Ashim Al-Ash’ari RA reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: Purity is part of faith. Alhamdulillah fills the scales. Subhanallah and Alhamdulillah both fill -or fill- between the heavens and the earth. Prayer is the light, charity is the proof, patience is the lantern, and the Qur’an is the witness for you or against you. Every man enters the morning in a state of selling himself, then he either frees him or destroys him.” (HR Muslim)

Twenty-fourth Hadith

Abu Dzar Al-Ghifari RA reported from the Prophet (SAW) about the hadith narrated from Allah that He said, “O My servants! Verily I have forbidden injustice upon Myself and made it forbidden among you, so do not oppress one another.

O My servants! All of you are misguided except those whom I guide, so ask Me for guidance and I will guide you.

O My servants! Every one of you is hungry except those whom I feed, so ask Me for food, and I will feed you.

O My servants! Every one of you is naked except who I clothe, so ask Me for clothes, and I will clothe you.

O My servants! Verily you do wrong at night and day and I forgive the sins of all, so ask Me for forgiveness, I will surely forgive you.

O My servants! Verily you will not be able to cause Me harm, nor will you be able to benefit Me.

O My servants! If the earliest and the last of you jinns and humans were all in the heart of the most pious one of you, it would not increase My kingdom one iota.

O my servants! If the first and the last of you jinns and humans were all in the heart of the most disobedient one of you, it would not diminish My kingdom one iota.

O my servants! Suppose the earliest and the last of you, the jinn and the humans, were all on one hill, and all of them asked Me, and I granted all of their requests, it would not diminish one iota of what is with Me, except just as the ocean diminishes when a needle is inserted.

O My servants! Verily these are your deeds which I wrote down for you then I perfected them for you. Whoever finds good let him praise Allah, and whoever finds other than that let him not reproach except himself. HR. Muslim

Twenty-fifth Hadith

Abu Dhar RA: A group of people from the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to the Prophet (SAW), “The rich people buy up a lot of rewards. They pray as we pray, they fast as we fast, but they are able to give in charity with their excess wealth.

He said: Has not Allah made for you what you can give in charity? Indeed, every tasbih is a charity, every takbir is a charity, every tahmid is a charity, every tahlil is a charity, every commanding the ma’ruf is a charity, every forbidding the evil is a charity, and in your coitus there is a charity too.

They said, “O Messenger of Allah, does one of us give vent to his lust and then he gets rewarded?” He replied, “Do you not think that if he gives vent to haraam things, he will not incur a sin? Similarly, if he gives vent to what is lawful, he will be rewarded.” (HR Muslim)

Twenty-sixth Hadith

From Abu Hurairah RA, he said: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Every human joint is obliged to give charity every day on which the sun rises on that day: you reconcile between two people is charity, you help someone to get on his mount or carry his goods on his mount is charity, a good sentence is charity, every step you take towards prayer is charity, you remove a nuisance from the road is charity. HR: Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Twenty-seventh Hadith

An-Nawwas bin Sam’an Al-Anshari RA reported that the Prophet said: Goodness is noble character, and sin is that which is doubtful in your heart and you do not like others to know about it. HR. Muslim

Wabishah bin Ma’bad RA reported: I came to the Messenger of Allah (SAW) and he said: Have you come to ask about good and sin? I replied: Yes. He said: Ask yourself. Goodness is that which calms the soul and makes the heart at ease, and sin is that which suffocates the soul and makes the heart doubtful, even if people speak to you. (Hadith hasan, narrated by us from the Musnad of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal and the Musnad of Ad-Darimi with a hasan sanad)

Twenty-eighth Hadith

Abu Najih Al-Irbadh bin Sariyah reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) advised us with an advice that made our hearts fearful and our eyes shed tears, so we said: It is as if this is a parting advice, so give us a will.

He replied, “I advise you to fear Allah, the Almighty, listen and obey even if your leader is a slave. Whoever lives after me will see many differences. So let him hold fast to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the guided Khulafaur Rashidin. Bite it with your molars. Beware of what is new and every innovation is misguided.” (Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi reported: Hadith hasan saheeh)

Twenty-ninth Hadith

Mu’adz bin Jabal RA reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, tell me the deed that will enter me into Paradise and keep me away from Hell.” He said, “You have asked about a great matter. However, it is an easy matter for whom Allah makes it easy: You worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, establish prayer, give Zakat, fast Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House of Allah.

Then he said, “Shall I show you the doors of virtue? Fasting is a shield, charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire, and one’s prayer in the middle of the night.” Then he recited the verse, “Their hulls are far from their beds …” up to His words, “In recompense for what they have done.

Then he said: Shall I tell you the subject matter, the pillar, and the highest peak?” I replied: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: The base of affairs is Islam, its pillar is prayer, and its highest peak is jihad.

Then he said: Would you like me to tell you about the control of these things?” I replied, “Yes, O Messenger of Allah.” He then held his tongue and said, “Guard this.” I said, “O Prophet of Allah, will we be tortured for our words?” He replied, “Woe to you. Have not many of the people fallen into the fire of Hell with their faces first – in another narration: with their necks first – because of what they said?” (HR: At-Tirmidhi and said: Hadith hasan shahih)

Thirtieth Hadith

Abu Hurairah RA reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said, “Do not envy each other, do not harm each other in buying and selling, do not be angry with each other, do not turn your backs on each other, and do not sell what your brother is bidding for. Be servants of Allah who are brothers. A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He should not oppress him, neglect him, or insult him. Piety is here -he gestured to his chest three times-. It is enough for a person to sin if he insults his Muslim brother. Every Muslim over another Muslim is forbidden his blood, his property, and his honor.HR. Muslim

Thirty-sixth Hadith

Abu Hurairah RA reported that the Prophet said: Whoever removes from a believer the distress of the distresses of this world, Allah will remove from him the distress of the distresses of the Day of Judgment. And whoever makes it easy for a person in difficulty, Allah will make it easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. And Allah always helps the servant as long as he helps his brother.

And whoever takes the path to seek knowledge, Allah will make easy for him the path to Paradise. No group of people gather in one of the houses of Allah to recite the Book of Allah and learn from one another, but there will descend upon them tranquility, mercy will cover them, Angels will surround them, and Allah will mention their names to the Angels who are with Him. Whoever is slow in his deeds will not be caught up by his lineage. HR. Muslim with this wording

Thirty-seventh Hadith

Ibn ‘Abbas RA reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) narrated a hadith from his Rabb Tabaraka wa Ta’ala. He said: Verily, Allah writes the good and the bad and then explains them. Whoever intends to do a good deed and does not do it, Allah writes it in His sight as one complete good deed, and if he intends to do a good deed and does it, Allah writes it in His sight as ten good deeds up to seven hundred folds up to many multiplications.

If he intends to do a bad deed and does not do it, Allah writes it in His sight as a perfect good, and if he intends to do a bad deed and does it, Allah writes it as a bad deed. HR: Al-Bukhari and Muslim in their Sahih books with this wording.

My servant always draws near to Me with the sunnahs until I love him. When I love him, I become his hearing with which he hears, his sight with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes, and his foot with which he walks. If he asks of me, I will surely give. If he asks Me for protection, I will protect him. HR: Al-Bukhari
