Translation Of Dardir Mi’roj

Bismillahirrahmaanirrahfim

 

When the Prophet (s.a.w) was at Hijr Isma’il near the Ka’bah lying on his back between his legs, suddenly Jibril and Mika’il accompanied by another angel came to him. They carried his body. After bringing him Zamzam water, they placed his body on his back with his back down, and Jibril asked them to take care of him.

 

It is narrated that the roof of the Prophet’s house was hollowed out. After descending, Jibril cut his neck down to the lower abdomen.

 

“Bring me a basin of Zamzam water to cleanse his heart, and expand his chest”, said Gabriel to his friend Mika’il.

 

After removing the Prophet’s heart Jibril then washed it three times. He cleaned all the dirt that was on him. After helping Jibril carry the basin of zamzam water three times, Mika’il then brought a basin made of gold filled with wisdom and faith. After pouring courtesy, knowledge, faith, and Islam into the Prophet’s chest Jibril then closed it again. And after Gabriel put the seal of prophethood on a pair of arms of the Prophet (peace be upon him) Buraq was brought complete with reins and bridle, a white animal taller than a mule and shorter than a bighal. It put its hooves on the tips of its eyes as it wiggled its ears. When crossing a mountain, Buraq raises his legs, and when descending he raises his arms. This beast has a pair of wings on its thighs which are used to grip by its legs. Gabriel was displeased with Buraq. And as he placed his hand on the lips of this animal, Gabriel said: “Are you not ashamed, O Buraq? By Allah, you will now be ridden by a creature most honored by Allah.”

 

Hearing that Buraq was embarrassed, so his whole body was dripping with sweat. The Prophet s.a.w. then mounted it, and the prophets before him used to ride Buraq. Sa’id ibn al-Musayyab and others said that Buraq was the animal that Prophet Ibrahim a.s. used to ride when he went to the House of Allah or the Ka’bah.

 

The Prophet s.a.w. departed flanked by Jibril on the right, and by Mika’il on the left. Ibn Sa’d said that it was Gabriel who helped the Prophet to mount the Buraq, and it was Mika’il who held the reins. They kept moving until they reached a land where there were many date palms.

 

“Come down and pray here”, Gabriel told the Prophet.  

 

After performing the prayer, the Prophet immediately boarded Buraq again. “Do you know where you prayed?”, Gabriel asked the Prophet “No”, he replied.

 

“You were praying in Madyan, near the Moses tree”, Gabriel explained. Buraq continued to move in a swooping down position carrying the Prophet as he placed his hooves near his eyes. “Come down, and pray here”, said Gabriel to the Prophet After performing the prayer, the Prophet immediately boarded Buraq again. “Do you know where you prayed?” Gabriel asked the Prophet “No”, he replied.

 

“You prayed on the hill of Tursina, where Allah once spoke directly to Moses,” Gabriel explained. Then the group arrived at a field that clearly showed some of the buildings of the Syrian palace.

 

“Come down, and pray here”, said Gabriel to the Prophet s.a.w After performing the prayer, the Prophet s.a.w immediately boarded Buraq again. Buraq continued to move in a swooping down position carrying the Prophet “Do you know where you prayed?” Gabriel asked the Prophet “No”, he replied.

 

“Earlier you prayed in the Temple of Lahem, the place where Isa bin Maryam was born,” Gabriel explained.

 

While riding the Buraq, the Prophet suddenly saw an ‘Ifrit of the Jinn carrying a torch. And as soon as he looked back, he could see him.

 

“I want to teach you a few words that if you read, the torch will be extinguished and the Ifrit will run away”, Gabriel told the Prophet “All right”, he said.

 

“Recite: A’udzu bi wajhillah-il-karimi wa bi kalimitillah-it-tammat-il-lati ia yujawizuhunna birrun wa la fasiqun min syarri ma yunzzalu min-as-sama’i, wa min syarri ma ya’ruju fiha, wa min syarri ma dzara’a fil-ardhi, wa min syarri ma yakhruju minha, wa min fitan-il-laili wan-nahari, wa min thawariq-il-laili wan nahari, illa thariqan yathruglqu bi khairin, ya Rahman. (I seek refuge in Allah, the Most Generous, using the words of Allah, which neither the good nor the evil can pass through, from the evil of what is sent down from the heavens, from the evil of what rises up to it, from the evil of what remains on the earth, from the evil of what comes out of it, from the trials of the night and the day, and from the calamities of the night and the day, except for the calamity that brings a virtue, O Lord, the Most Gracious).”

 

As soon as the Prophet (s.a.w) finished reciting it, the ‘ifrit ran away and fell down, and his torch was extinguished.

 

The group continued on their way until they came across several people who were planting and tilling on the same day. Every time they finished tilling, the plants would come back ready to be tilled again. And so on.

 

“What is it, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked Gabriel.

 

“They are those who have fought in the cause of Allah, so that the reward for one of their good deeds is multiplied seven hundred times. And the wealth they have donated is reimbursed by Allah,” replied Jibril.

 

Suddenly the Prophet s.a.w smelled a very fragrant aroma.

 

“What is this scent, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked Gabriel.

 

“This is the scent of Masyithah bint Fir’aun and her sons,” Gabriel replied. “One day while combing Pharaoh’s daughter, her comb suddenly fell off. “In the name of Allah, woe to Pharaoh,” Masyithah said spontaneously.

 

“So you have a god other than my father, do you?” asked the little daughter of Pharaoh. “Yes”, replied Masyithah frankly.

 

“Then can I tell my father about this?”, she asked. “You may”, replied Masyithah honestly.

 

The little boy then told his father about it. At once Masyithah was summoned by Pharaoh.

 

“Do you really have a God besides me?”, asked Pharaoh.

 

“That’s right”, replied Masyithah. “My Lord and your Lord is Allah.”

 

Masyithah had two children and a husband. Pharaoh sent for them. He persuaded Masyithah and her husband to leave Islam. But they refused.

 

“What if I kill you both?”, Pharaoh asked threateningly.

 

“Fine, it’s up to you. But please bury our bodies in the same grave,” Masyithah replied.

 

“Yes, I will fulfill your request”, said Fir’aun.

 

Fir’aun then ordered to bring a very large basin made of tin. And after heating it with very boiling water, he told Masyithah and her family to enter it. One by one they entered the vessel. And when it was the turn of his youngest child who was still breastfeeding, he suddenly said:

 

“O mother, come in and do not hesitate, for you are in the right.”

 

Inevitably Masyithah’s family ended up in the same tin vessel filled with boiling water.

 

Ibn Sa’id said that there were four people who were able to speak while still in the cradle: the son of Masyithah, the witness of the prophet Joseph, the son of Juraij, and Jesus the son of Mary.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) found some people who were breaking their own heads. And after being bruised to shreds, it went back to its original state. This they continued to do without any boredom.

 

“Who are they, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“They are the ones whose heads are too heavy to pray the obligatory prayers,” replied Jibril,

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) found some people whose bodies were both front and back. They were being grazed like a herd of camels and sheep. They were eating the fruit of dhari’, the fruit of zaqqum, and the stones of the hell of Jahannam.

 

“Who are they, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“They are those who do not pay zakaah on their wealth, and Allah has not wronged them,” replied Jibril.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) then came across some people who had cooked meat in a pot in front of them and rotten meat near them, but they chose to eat the rotten meat and leave the cooked meat alone.

 

“Who are they, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“They are among your Ummah who actually have a good and lawful wife, but they prefer to have sex with prostitutes, even staying at her house until morning,” replied Jibril.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) found a wooden plank on the side of the road that always tore the clothes of everyone who passed by it.

 

“What is it, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“It is like the example of some of your people who like to sit idly by the roadside to annoy passers-by. They like to obstruct from the way of Allah,” Gabriel replied.

 

Then the Prophet saw a man swimming in a river of blood while swallowing a stone.

 

“What is it, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“It is like the example of a person who likes to eat usury,” replied Jibril.

 

Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) came across a man who was collecting a pile of firewood that he could not carry, but he kept adding to it.

 

“What is it, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“It is a person from your community who has received several mandates from others. In fact, he is no longer able to fulfill them, but still keeps asking for more,” Jibril replied.

 

Furthermore, the Prophet s.a.w found some people who were cutting their lips and tongues using iron scissors. And every time he cut his lips and tongue it returned intact again as before without any scars, and so on.

 

“Who are they, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“Those are the preachers who like to spread slander. They are among your people who are good at saying what they do not do,” replied Jibril.

 

Furthermore, the Prophet (s.a.w) found some people who had nails made of tin which they used to scratch their own faces and chests.

 

“What are they, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“They are those who like to eat the flesh of others, and like to attack their honors,” replied Gabriel.

 

When the Prophet was moving on, suddenly someone called from the right:

 

“O Muhammad, look at me. I want to ask you a question.” But he would not answer him.

 

“Who is that man, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“The one who called you was a Jew. Had you answered his call, your people would have become Jews,” Gabriel replied.

 

When the Prophet was moving on, suddenly someone called from the left:

 

“O Muhammad, look at me. I want to ask you a question.” But he would not answer him.

 

“Who is that man, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“The one who called you was a Christian. Had you answered his call, your community would have become Christians,” Gabriel replied.

 

When the Prophet (s.a.w) was moving on his journey, a woman whose arms were open and she had all the beauty created by Allah told him:

 

“O Muhammad, look at me. I want to ask you a question. But he did not turn to him.

 

 “Who is that woman, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“That woman is a parable of the world. Had you responded to her call, your people would have preferred this world to the Hereafter,” Gabriel replied.

 

When the Prophet (peace be upon him) was moving on his way, suddenly an old man called out to him as he moved away from the road. He said: “Come here, O Muhammad.”

 

“Don’t want to, keep going, O Muhammad”, said Gabriel.

 

“Who is that man, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“That was Iblis, the enemy of Allah, who wants you to be inclined to him,” Gabriel replied.

 

As the Prophet (peace be upon him) was moving on his way, suddenly a grandmother called out to him from the roadside: “O Muhammad, wait for me. I want to ask you a question.” But he did not turn to her.

 

“Who is that woman, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“That was a parable of the remaining life of the world. So the rest of the life of the world is like the life of the old lady,” Jibril replied.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) continued his journey until he reached the Bayt-ul-Maqdis. He entered it from the right-hand side door. After alighting from the Buraq, he immediately tethered this animal near the door of the mosque, where the prophets used to tether their animals.

 

It is narrated that Jibril approached a large rock. As soon as he put his finger on it, it shattered and made a loud noise, which surprised Buraq who was resting.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) entered the mosque from the sunlit door. He and Jibril prayed two rak’ahs on their own. Soon there was a gathering of people whom he later learned were prophets. Some of them were standing, some were bowing, and some were prostrating. After the call for adhan and the call for igamat, they stood up in several rows. They were waiting for the one who would be their Imam. Suddenly Jibril took the hand of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and signaled him to come forward as the imam. And he prayed two rak’ahs as their imam.

 

It was narrated from Ka’b that Gabriel informed the angels. They too descended in droves from the sky. Then Allah gathered all the apostles and prophets to join them. The Prophet prayed as an imam for the angels and the apostles.

 

“O Muhammad, do you know who was praying behind you?”, Gabriel asked the Prophet when he finished praying.

 

“No”, replied the Prophet.

 

“They are all the prophets sent by Allah s.w.t”, replied Jibril.

 

Furthermore, the Prophet heard each prophet praising his Lord with very beautiful praises.

 

“You all praise your Lord, and I too always praise my Lord”, said the Prophet.

 

Then the Prophet said: “All praise belongs to Allah who has sent me with a blessing for all the worlds and for all mankind to give glad tidings and warnings. It is Allah who has sent down the Qur’an to me as an explanation for everything. Allah has made my Ummah the best Ummah presented to mankind. Allah has made my Ummah the people of the middle.

 

Allah has also made my Ummah the first and the last. Allah has expanded my chest, removed the stain of sin from me, raised my status, and made me the complete opener.”

 

Prophet Ibrahim once said: “It is because of this that Muhammad has honored you.”

 

Suddenly the Prophet (peace be upon him) felt extremely thirsty. Jibril a.s. immediately brought him a vessel containing wine and another vessel containing milk. And it turned out that he chose the vessel containing milk to drink.

 

“You have chosen the fitrah,” Gabriel told the Prophet. “Had you chosen drinking alcohol, your people would have loved to do something futile, and none of them would have followed you except a few.”

 

It is mentioned in a narration that the vessels brought by Jibril a.s. were three. And the third vessel contained water.

 

“Had you chosen water, your people would have drowned.”

 

It is mentioned in a narration that one of the three vessels presented to the Prophet (s.a.w) was a vessel containing honey instead of water. And indeed he saw some angels from the right side of a large rock. He greeted them and they responded. He asked questions, and they gave answers that pleased him.

 

Then the Prophet was taken by Jibril a.s. through the mi’raj event. Participating in this journey were the spirits of Adam’s children and grandchildren. All creatures have never seen anything more beautiful than the event of mi’raj. There were jewels of silver and gold from Paradise. On his right and left, he was flanked by a retinue of angels.

 

The Prophet s.a.w. and Jibril a.s. ascended until they reached one of the doors of the world sky called the door of Hifzhah. There was an angel named Isma’il, the guardian of the heavens of the world. This air-dwelling angel had never ascended to the heavens, nor had he ever descended to the earth, except only on the day when the Prophet died. Before him were seventy thousand angels, each of whom had seventy thousand soldiers.

 

Jibril a.s. asked for the door of heaven to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door.

 

“Jibril”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked.

 

“Yes”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Welcome a brother and a caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

He then opened the door for the Prophet s.a.w from Gabriel a.s. And once they were inside, it turned out to be the prophet Adam a.s. the father of all mankind in the same form in which Allah ta’ala had created him. The spirits of the prophets and their descendants were clearly shown to the Prophet (s.a.w) who said: “Good spirits, and good souls. Please make them in the highest heaven.”

 

Then it was clearly shown to the Prophet (s.a.w) the spirits of the disbelieving descendants of Prophet Adam. He said: “Bad spirits, and bad souls. Please make them in the hell of Sijjin.”

 

From the left the Prophet saw a black figure, and a door that emitted a very foul odor. As soon as he looked to the right he appeared to be smiling, but as soon as he looked from the left he appeared to be sad and crying. The Prophet greeted her with peace. And after answering his greeting he said excitedly: “Welcome a righteous son, a righteous Prophet.”

 

Then the Prophet asked Yaa Jibril, who is He?

 

Jibril replied “He is your ancestor Adam, and the black figure is the soul of his children and grandchildren. The right group of them are the future inhabitants of Paradise, and the left group of them are the future inhabitants of Hell. As soon as he looks to the right he smiles and feels happy, and as soon as he looks to the left he is sad and weeps. The door on the left is the door of Jahannam. When he sees his children and grandchildren entering it, he weeps and grieves.”

 

Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) passed by in peace, and found those who liked to eat usury and the wealth of orphans, adulterers, and others. They were in very bad shape. :

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w.) ascended to the second level of heaven. Jibril asked for the door to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door. “Jibril”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked.

 

“Yes”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Welcome a brother and a caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

She then opened the door for the Prophet (peace be upon him) from Jibril a.s.. And once they were inside, it turned out to be the aunt’s two sons, Isa bin Maryam and Yahya bin Zakariyya a.s. Their clothes and hair were very similar to each other. Their clothes and hair were very similar to each other. With them were some of his followers. It turned out that the hair of the prophet Isa was curly, his stature was tall and large, his skin was white to reddish-red. He resembled ‘Urwah bin Mas’ud ats-Tsaqafi. The Prophet (s.a.w.) greeted ‘Isa and Yahya. And after answering his greeting, they said: “Welcome, O righteous brother and a righteous Prophet.” They also wished him well.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w.) ascended to the third level of heaven. Jibril asked for the door to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door.

 

“Jibril”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked.

 

“Yes”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Welcome a brother and a caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

He then opened the door for the Prophet s.a.w. from Gabriel a.s. And once they were inside, it turned out to be Yisuf with some of his people.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) greeted Yusuf. And after answering his greeting, he said: “Welcome, O righteous brother and a righteous Prophet.” He also wished him well. It turned out that Yusuf was given half the good looks of all mankind.

 

In one narration, it is said that Joseph was the most handsome of Allah’s creatures. He was like the moon on a full night around the stars.

 

“Who is this, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet. “Your brother Joseph”, replied Gabriel.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) ascended to the fourth level of heaven. Jibril asked for the door to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door, “Jibril”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked.

 

“Yes”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Welcome, a brother and caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

He then opened the door for the Prophet s.a.w. from Gabriel a.s.

 

And once they were inside, it was Idris who had been granted by God a very high position.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w.) greeted Idris. And after answering his greeting, he said: “Welcome O righteous brother and righteous prophet.” He also wished him well.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w.) ascended to the fifth level of heaven. Jibril asked for the door to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door.

 

“Jibril”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked.

 

“Yes”, replied Gabriel. :

 

“Welcome, a brother and caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

He then opened the door for the Prophet (s.a.w) from Gabriel a.s. And once they were inside, it turned out to be Aaron whose beard was half white and half black. He was so tall that he was hit by Harun’s knee. He was surrounded by his people the Bani Isra’il.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) greeted Harin. And after answering his greeting, he said: “Welcome, O righteous brother and righteous prophet.”

 

He also wished him well.

 

“Who is this, O Gabriel?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“This is a man who was much loved by his people. His name is Harun bin Imran,” Jibril replied.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w.) ascended to the sixth level of heaven. Jibril asked for the door to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door.

 

“Jibril”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked…: “Yes”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Welcome, a brother and caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

He then opened the door for the Prophet (peace be upon him) from Gabriel (peace be upon him) and passed by a prophet and a group of other prophets and a few people, passed by a prophet and a group of other prophets and a people, and also passed by a prophet and a group of prophets with no one besides them.

 

Then the Prophet passed by a large group that was so numerous that it covered the skyline.

 

“Who is it?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“It is Moses and his people”, replied Gabriel, “But raise your head.”

 

He saw a group that was also so large that it covered the two ends of the skyline.

 

“Who are they?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“They are your people”, replied Gabriel. “Apart from them, there are seventy thousand people who will enter Paradise without being judged.”

 

Once the Prophet s.a.w and Jibril a.s. had entered, it turned out to be Musa bin “Imran, a tall man with very thick hair.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) greeted Moses (a.s). And after answering his greeting, he said: “Welcome, O righteous brother and a righteous Prophet.” He also wished him well. Miisa said: “People think that I am the most honored man by Allah. It turns out that this man is more honored by Allah.”

 

As soon as the Prophet (s.a.w) passed by, Moses cried.

 

“Why are you crying?”, asked the angel.

 

“I weep because after me there will be a young man sent whose people will enter Paradise more than mine. The people of Bani Isra’il thought I was the most honored man by Allah. It turns out that one of Adam’s children has replaced me in this world, and I am already in the Hereafter. If he had been alone I would not have cared. But he is with his people.”

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) ascended to the seventh level of heaven. Jibril asked for the door to be opened.

 

“Who is this?”, asked the one behind the door.

 

“Jibri?”, replied Jibril.

 

“Who is with you?”, he asked.

 

“Muhammad”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Has he been sent?”, he asked.

 

“Yes”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Welcome, a brother and caliph, the best of brothers, and the best of caliphs. The best of those who came have come,” he said.

 

He then opened the door for the Prophet s.a.w from Gabriel a.s. And once they were inside, it was Ibrahim the lover of Allah. He was sitting near the door of Paradise on a chair of gold leaning his back against the Baitul-Ma’mur. He was accompanied by several people.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) greeted Ibrahim. And after answering his greeting, he said: “Welcome, O righteous brother and righteous prophet.”

 

Ibrahim then said to the Prophet: “Tell your people to plant as many crops as possible in Paradise, because the soil of Paradise is very fertile and vast.”

 

“What is a plant of Paradise?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“That is to say: La haula wa Ia quwwata illa billah-il-aliyy-il’azhim (There is no power and strength at all without the help of Allah, the Most High, the Most Great)”, Ibrahim replied.

 

In another narration, Ibrahim a.s. said to the Prophet s.a.w: “Convey my greetings to your people, and tell them that the land of Paradise is beautiful, the water is fresh, and the plants are sentences: Subhanallahi wal-hamdulillahi wa Ia ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar (Glory be to Allah, all praise belongs to Allah, there is no God but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest).”

 

Near Ibrahim a.s was a group of people who were sitting with faces as pure white as paper, and there was also a group of people who had something in the color of their faces. The latter group of people stood up and entered a river. After bathing there, they came out and were quite clean-faced. Then they entered another river. After bathing there, they came out completely clean. Then they entered a third river. And after bathing there, they came out looking like the first group.

 

They then sat down to join their friends.

 

“O Gabriel, who are those people whose faces are pure white like paper, and also who are those people whose face color has something on it? Then what about the rivers that they entered and then they were there?”, asked the Prophet.

 

“Those whose faces are as white as paper are a people whose faith is not mixed with injustice. Those whose faces have something of that color are a people who used to mix good deeds with bad deeds. They repented, and Allah accepted their repentance. As for the rivers, the first is a symbol of Allah’s mercy, the second is a symbol of Allah’s favor, and the third is Allah giving them pure purifying drinking water. Some say that is your place and the place of your people in the future,” replied Jibril.

 

Verily, the Ummah of the Prophet (s.a.w) was divided into two parts. One part of them wore pure white clothes like paper, and the other part wore gray clothes.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) entered Bait-ul-Ma’mur. Joining him were those who wore white clothes. Those wearing gray clothes could not enter. But they remained in good condition. He and the mu’min who were with him prayed in Bait-ul-Ma’mir, Every day this place is entered by seventy thousand angels who will not return until the Day of Judgment, He took a position right behind the Ka’bah.

 

In another narration, three vessels were shown to the Prophet (peace be upon him). When he chose the vessel that contained milk. Jibril a.s. confirmed it, as stated earlier. Gabriel said: “That is the fitrah that you and your people are on.”

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w.) ascended to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha, the last place of his mi’raj journey that started from the earth. There was a tree from whose roots came out several rivers of changing water, some rivers whose taste would never change, some rivers of wine that tasted delicious to those who drank it, and some rivers of pure honey. It would take a man seventy years to walk around the shade of that tree, and he would not be able to finish because of the size of the tree.

 

A single leaf is as wide as several ears of a female elephant. Its leaves almost cover this Ummah. According to one narration, it is the leaves of this tree that shade all creatures, and each leaf has an angel covering it so that it does not know what color it is.

 

It is mentioned in another narration that a single leaf can turn into a jewel, and no one can describe its beauty. Near the tree is an expanse of gold. And at its roots there are four rivers, two inner rivers, and two outer rivers.

 

“What are these rivers, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“The two inner rivers are the pair of rivers in Paradise, and the two outer rivers are the Nile and the river ‘Ifrat”, replied Jibril.

 

In another narration, the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw Jibril at Sidrat-ul-Muntaha with six hundred wings, each of which covered the sky, and from within these wings there were pearls and gems, the number of which is known only to Allah.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w) entered Paradise. In it there are favors that no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and no human heart has ever thought of. At the door of Paradise he saw an inscription: “The Reward of Almsgiving is Multiplied Ten Times, and the Reward of Lending is Multiplied Eighteen Times.”

 

“Why is lending more important than giving in charity, O Gabriel?” the Prophet asked.

 

“Because the one who asks sometimes still has something. On the other hand, the one who is in debt must be forced by necessity,” Jibril replied.

 

Then the Prophet (s.a.w.) continued walking, and found some rivers of milk whose taste would not change, some rivers of wine that were delicious for those who drank it, and some rivers of pure honey. In these rivers there are strings of pearls that are very beautiful and dazzling. Near these rivers are also pomegranates that are like camel skins used for transporting goods, as well as charming birds.

 

Abu Bakr once asked the Prophet: “O messenger of Allah, it is a cattle.”

 

“I have eaten it with a much better taste And I hope you will too”, the Prophet replied.

 

The Prophet saw the river al-Kautsar on both banks of which were strings of hollow pearls. The soil spread the fragrance of musk.

 

Then the Prophet was shown hell. In it there is the wrath, punishment, and punishment of Allah ta’ala that if for example a stone or a piece of iron is thrown there it will be immediately engulfed. In hell there are some people who eat carrion,

 

“Who are they, O Gabriel?”, the Prophet asked.

 

“They are people who like to eat the flesh of others,” replied Gabriel.

 

The Prophet (s.a.w) saw the guardian angel of Hell who was surly, sullen, and constantly angry. He started by greeting him. After answering his greeting, he immediately locked their door so that he could not see them or enter.

 

Then the Prophet was taken up to Sidrat-ul-Muntaha. He was engulfed by a cloud containing all kinds of colors. Jibril was left behind. But then he immediately went up with him to the place where he could hear the strokes of the qalam. He saw something hiding in the light of the ‘Throne.

 

“Who is that? Is it an angel?” the Prophet asked.

 

“No”, replied Gabriel.

 

“Or a prophet?” he asked.

 

“Nor is it”, replied Gabriel. “This is someone who, while in this world, always had his tongue wet because he used to dhikr the name of Allah s.w.t, his heart always depended on the mosque, and never abused his parents.”

 

The Prophet saw his Lord, the Most Holy, the Most High. Instantly he prostrated himself. It was at that moment that he was spoken to by his Lord, “O Muhammad!”

 

“Yes, my Lord,” he replied.

 

“Please,” He said.

 

“Indeed, You have made Abraham a lover, and You have given him considerable power. You spoke with Moses directly. You gave David great power, and you also gave him strength so that he could soften iron, and the mountains bowed down to him. You gave Sulaiman so much power that the jinn, men, and shaytan bowed down to him. Even the winds bowed to him. You have given him a power that was not given to anyone after him. You taught Isa the Torah and the Gospel. You made him able to cure blindness, cure leprosy, and bring the dead back to life with your permission. You protected Isa and his mother from the accursed shaytan, so that the shaytan had no way to tempt them both.”

 

Allah s.w.t. says: “I have made you lovers.

 

I will send you to all mankind to give glad tidings to those who believe, and to warn those who disbelieve. I will expand your chest, remove the stain of sin from your heart, and raise you high. Whenever you remember Me, you will surely remember death. I make your Ummah the middle nation. I make them the first and the last. I make them not to speak at length before they testify that indeed you are My servant and a messenger. And I make them a people whose hearts are soft. I made you the first to be created among the prophets, the last to be sent among them, and the earliest to be judged in the Hereafter. I gave you Surah Al-fatihah which I never gave to any prophet before you. I give you the latter part of Surah Al-Baqarah as a deposit under the ‘Throne which I never gave to any prophet before you. I give you the pool of Al-Kautsar. I give you the eight essentials of Islam, hijrah, jihad, honesty, fasting Ramadan amar ma’ruf and nahi mungkar. When I created the heavens and the earth, I obliged you and your people to pray fifty times. Therefore, you fulfill this obligation. I have forgiven anyone among your people who does not associate Me with anything.”

 

Then the cloud was lifted from the Prophet. Jibril took him by the hand, and immediately went to meet Ibrahim. But Ibrahim did not say anything. Jibril then went to Musa, someone who cared and was willing to talk to help find a way out of the current predicament.

 

“What have you done, O Muhammad?”, asked Moses.

 

“What obligations has your Lord imposed on you and on your people?”

 

“He obliged me and my Ummah to pray fifty times a day and night,” the Prophet replied.

 

“Go back to your Lord,” Moses said. “Ask Him for leniency, so that you and your people will not be troubled. They will not be able to do it.

 

Before you, I told people about it. I even tried it on the Bani Isra’il with a relatively light burden of obligation. Even that they could not do. They abandoned it, even though your people were physically weaker than them.”

 

The Prophet (s.a.w.) turned to Jibril with the intention of asking him for consideration. And Jibril signaled him to follow Moses’ suggestion that he go back to his Lord to ask for relief. He immediately went to meet God. When he arrived near a tree, he was enveloped by a cloud. With a kneeling position after prostrating himself he said: “O Lord, please give my people relief, for they are a very weak people.”

 

Allah s.w.t. says: “I gave them relief for five times.”

 

Then the cloud was lifted, and the Prophet (s.a.w) returned to Moses and said: “Allah has granted my people relief from the five daily prayers.”

 

“Go to your Lord, and ask for more relief for your people, for they will not be able to carry it out”, Moses said.

 

Several times the Prophet (s.a.w) had to go back and forth between his Lord and the Mass, so that eventually his people were only given the obligation to pray five times. Finally Allah ta’ala said: “O Muhammad!”

 

“Yes, O my Lord,” he replied.

 

Allah s.w.t. says: “You and your people are obliged to pray five times a day and night.

 

And the reward of each prayer is multiplied ten times. So the number is equal to fifty times. This is My decree that cannot be changed and altered. Whoever intends to do a good deed but he cancels it, it will be recorded for him one virtue. And if he does it, it will be recorded for him ten times. On the other hand, whoever intends to do a bad deed and cancels it, nothing will be recorded for him. And if he does it, it will be recorded for him only one bad deed.”

 

Suddenly the atmosphere became very bright. The Prophet (s.a.w.) went down to Moses to tell him about it.

 

“Go to your Lord, and ask again for relief for your people, for they will still not be able to carry it out”, Moses said.

 

“I have gone up and down to my Lord several times to ask for relief. I feel ashamed of Him. I have agreed and surrendered to His decree”, the Prophet replied.

 

Suddenly there was a caller who called out: “Verily you shall fulfill My obligation, and I have granted relief to My servants!”

 

“Now descend in the name of Allah”, Moses said to the Prophet,

 

And whenever he passed a group of angels, they would greet him. He approached Jibril and said: “Why do the angels of the heavens all greet me with the same greeting? And why do they also laugh at me? Except for one angel.
