Translation Of Hisn al-Muslim Sa’id al-Qahthani

MUKADIMAH

Indeed, all praise belongs to Allah alone. We praise, ask for help, seek forgiveness, and seek refuge with Him from the badness of ourselves and the evil of our deeds. Whoever is guided by Allah, no one can misguide him. And whoever is misguided by Him, no one can guide him.

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. He is the only Lord. There is no partner for Him. And I bear witness that the Prophet Muhammad is His servant and messenger. May peace and blessings be upon him, his family, companions, and those who follow them well until the Day of Judgment. Amma ba’du:

This book of dhikr and du’a is a summary. I summarized it from my book entitled: Adz-Dzikru wa ad-Dua wa Al-Ilaj bi ar-Ruqa min al-Kitab wa as-Sunnah. I summarized the dhikr part of it so that it would be light and could be carried anywhere when traveling.

In this book I have only mentioned the matan of the dhikr. In mentakhrij, I have only mentioned one or two sources of reference from those listed in the original book. Therefore, if any reader wants to know the companions of the Hadith narrators of this dhikr or wants to know the takhrij in more detail, please refer to the original book.”

We ask Allah, the Exalted, the Most High, with all His glorious names and high attributes, to make this book purely to see His Glorious Face. May Allah make this book useful in my life and after my death. It will also benefit those who read it, print it, or are the cause of its dissemination.

Verily, Allah is the only One who is able to do so and the most trustworthy.

May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family, his companions, and those who follow him well until the Day of Judgment.

1.    THE VIRTUE OF DHIKR

Allah says,

“Therefore, remember Me, and I will remember you, and give thanks to Me, and do not deny My favors.” (Al-Bagarah: 152).

“O you who believe, remember (remember and mention) the name of Allah, with as much dhikr as possible.” (Al-Ahzab: 41).

“And those men and women who remember Allah much, Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward.” (Al. Ahzab: 35).

“And mention (the name of) your Lord in your hearts with humility and fear, and without raising your voice, in the morning and in the evening, and be not of the heedless.” (Al-A’raf: 205).

Then the Prophet said,

“Contrast the one who remembers his Lord with the one who does not, like the living with the dead.”

The Messenger of Allah said,

“Would you like me to tell you about the best of your deeds, and the holiest in the sight of your King (Allah), the highest in rank, and better for you than spending gold and silver, and better for you than meeting with enemies then you cut their throats and they cut your throats?” They replied, “Yes.” He said, “It is the remembrance and mention of Allah.

The Messenger of Allah also said,

“Allah says, “I depend on My servant’s prejudice against Me. And I am always with him if he remembers and mentions Me. If he remembers Me within himself, then I remember him within Myself, and if he remembers Me in an assembly, then I remember him in an assembly that is better than them. If he draws near to Me an inch, then I draw near to him a cubit, and if he draws near to Me a cubit, then I draw near to him a tenth. If he comes to Me by walking, then I come to him by trotting.”

‘Abd Allah ibn Busyr reported that he said,

“A man said, O Messenger of Allah, the laws of Islam are too many for me. So tell me something that I can use as a guide. He replied, “Let your tongue always be wet with dhikr and mention of Allah”,

The Messenger of Allah said,

“Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allah (al-Qur’an), then he gets one good reward. Then that one good reward is multiplied ten times. I am not saying that ‘alif laam miim’ is one letter. Rather, alif is one letter, ‘Taam’ is one letter and ‘miim’ is one letter.”

Uqbah bin Amir reported,

“The Messenger of Allah came to us while we were sitting on the roof of the Mosque. Then he said, “Which of you would like to go in the morning to the valley of Buthhan or to Aqiq, then he gets two camels with big humps without committing a sin or breaking the ties of friendship?”! We all replied, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we all want that.’ He said, “Then why does not one of you go to the mosque and learn religious knowledge, or recite two verses from the book of Allah (the Qur’an)? That is better for him than two camels with big humps. If he recites three verses, it is better than three camels. If he recites four verses, it is better than four camels. And whatever number of verses he recites, it is better than a camel.

The Messenger of Allah said,

“Whoever sits in a place without remembering Allah, he will surely be deprived of Allah. And whoever sleeps on a bed without being Patient, and strengthen your patience, and keep alert (in the borders of your country), and fear Allah, that you may be fortunate.” (Ali Imran: 190-200)

3. SUPPLICATION FOR PUTTING ON NEW CLOTHES

“O Allah, praise be to You alone for giving me this garment. I ask You for the good of this garment and the good that was created for it. And I also seek refuge with You from its badness, and the badness of whatever was created for it.”

4. SUPPLICATION FOR THE ONE WEARING NEW CLOTHES

“May you wear them for a long time (until they wear out) then Allah replaces them.”

“Put on new clothes, live nobly, and die as a martyr.”

5. THE SUPPLICATION TO SAY WHEN UNDRESSING

“By mentioning the Name of Allah.”

6. SUPPLICATION FOR ENTERING THE WASHROOM/TOILET

“(In the Name of Allah) O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the male and female devils.”

7. SUPPLICATION COMING OUT OF THE TOILET

“I ask for his forgiveness”

8. DHIKR BEFORE ABLUTION

“By mentioning the Name of Allah.”

9. DHIKR AFTER WUDHU

“I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and there is no partner for Him, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.”

“O Allah, make me one of those who repent a lot, and make me one of those who love to clean themselves.”

“Glory be to You, O Allah, and all praise be to You. I testify that there is no god but You, I ask forgiveness and repent to. You.

10. DHIKR WHEN LEAVING THE HOUSE

“By mentioning the Name of Allah, I put my trust in Him. There is no power and no strength except with the help of Allah.”

“O Allah, I seek refuge in You lest I go astray or be led astray, lest I slip or be led astray, lest I be wronged or be wronged, and lest I be fooled or be fooled by others.”

11. DHIKR WHEN ENTERING A HOUSE

“By mentioning the Name of Allah we enter, and by mentioning the Name of Allah we go out, and to our Lord alone do we put our trust.”

“Then greeting his family, remembering Allah, he is sure to receive shortcomings from Allah as well.”

The Messenger of Allah said,

“No people gather in an assembly without remembering Allah or sending blessings upon their Prophet, except that they will be deprived. If Allah wills, He will torment them and if He wills, He will forgive them.”

The Messenger of Allah said,

“No people disperse from a gathering in which they do not remember Allah, but they disperse from a place where a donkey’s carcass is, and they will surely be harmed on the Day of Judgment. “

1. DHIKR UPON WAKING UP

“Praise be to Allah who has brought us to life after He had put us to death and to Him alone shall we return.”

“There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, there is no partner for Him, to Him belongs all dominion and all praise is due to Him, and He is omnipotent over all things. Glory be to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. There is no god but Allah. Allah is great,, There is no power and effort except with the help of Allah. Ya Rabbi Forgive me.”

“Praise be to Allah who has protected my body, restored my life and given me the opportunity to dhikr (remember and mention) Him.”?

“Surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the alternation of the night and the day, there are signs for those who understand. (Those who remember Allah while standing or sitting or lying down, and they think about the creation of the heavens and the earth, saying: “Our Lord, You did not create these things in vain! You have not created this in vain, Glory be to You, so protect us from the punishment of Hell. O our Lord! Indeed whoever You put into Hell, You have indeed humiliated him, and there is no helper for the wrongdoers. O our Lord! Verily we hear (the call) that calls to faith, (i.e.): Believe in your Lord, and we shall believe. O our Lord! Forgive us our sins and expiate from us our faults, and take us up with those who are much devoted. O our Lord, grant us what You have promised us through Your Messengers. And do not disgrace us on the Day of Judgment. Surely You do not break promises. So their Lord granted their supplication (saying), Surely I do not waste the deeds of those who do good among you, both men and women, (for) some of you are descended from others. So those who emigrate, those who are expelled from their homes, those who are harmed in My cause, those who fight and those who are killed, surely I will expiate their wrongs and surely I will admit them to Paradise with rivers flowing beneath, as a reward with Allah. And Allah has with Him a good reward’. Do not be deceived by the freedom with which the disbelievers move in the land. That is but a temporary pleasure, then their return is Jahannam, and Jahannam is the worst of all places. But those who fear their Lord, for them is Paradise in which rivers flow, and therein they will abide for ever, as an abode from the side of Allah. And what is with Allah is better for those who are devoted. Verily among the People of the Book there are those who believe in Allah and in what was revealed to you and what was revealed to them, while they are humble to Allah and they do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price. They shall have their reward with their Lord. Verily, Allah is swift in His reckoning. O you who believe!

12. SUPPLICATION FOR WALKING TO THE MOSQUE

“O Allah, put (give) light in my heart, light on my tongue, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light from above me, light from below me, light on my right, light on my left, light from my front, and light from my back. Give me light within me, magnify light for me, exalt light for me, give me light, and make me a light. And make me a light. O Allah, give me light, create light in my nerves, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my hair, and light in my skin.”? (O Allah, create light for me in my grave … and light in my bones.)” (O Allah, create light for me in my grave… and light in my bones.) “Add light for me! Add light for me! Add light for me.” (“And grant me light upon light.

15. DHIKR RELATED TO THE ADHAN

A person who hears the adhan should say what the muadzin says, except for the words,

“Let’s go to prayer.”

And, “Let’s go to victory.”

Then he should say,

“There is no power and no strength except with the help of Allah.”

After the muzzin says the tashahhud, the hearer says,

“And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah. He is the only Lord. There is no partner for Him, and indeed Muhammad is His servant and messenger. I approve of Allah as Lord, Muhammad as Messenger, and Islam as religion.”

“Recite the salawat for the Prophet after answering the muadzin.”?

Then pray with,

“O Allah, Lord of this perfect call (adhan) and the established (obligatory) prayer. Grant al-Wasilah (a degree in Paradise, which is specific to the Prophet) and fadhilah (virtue) to Muhammad. And grant him a praiseworthy position that You have promised, (Surely You do not break promises),

Then pray for oneself, between the adhan and igamah, for prayer at that time will not be rejected.

“Glory to you O Allah, I praise you. Glorious is your name. Most high is your honor. And there is no god but You.”

“I come to the Lord of the heavens and the earth, holding the religion of truth, and I do not belong to the polytheists. Verily, my prayer, my sacrifice, and my life and death are for Allah, the Lord of all worlds. There is no partner for Him, and it is to Him that I am commanded, and I am of those who surrender.

O Allah, You are the King; there is no god but You. You are my Lord and I am Your servant. I have wronged myself, I confess my sins (that I have committed). Therefore forgive me all my sins, indeed no one forgives sins except You. Show me the best character. Indeed, there is no one to show me the best manners except You. Keep me away from bad manners; no one can keep me away from them except You. I fulfill Your call with joy. And all goodness is in Your two hands. Evil is not attributed to You. I live by Your help and mercy, and to You (I return). Glory be to You and Most High. I ask forgiveness and repent to You.”

“O Allah, Lord of Jibril, Mikail and Israfil, O Creator of the heavens and the earth, O Lord who knows the unseen and the real, You are the one who gives the decision on what they dispute, show me the truth they dispute with Your permission. Verily, You guide whomever You will to the straight path.”

“Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. Praise be to Allah with much praise. Praise be to Allah with much praise. Praise be to Allah with much praise. Glory be to Allah in the morning and evening.” (Said 3 times).

“I seek refuge in Allah from arrogance, (bad) poetry, and death (caused by) the devil.”

“O Allah, to You be all praise, You are the light of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You be all praise, You are the one who manages the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You be all praise, You are the Lord of the heavens and the earth and their host. To You be all praise and to You the kingdom of heaven and earth and all that is in them. To You be all praise, You are the ruler of the heavens and the earth. to You be all praise, You are true, Your promise is true, Your word is true, meeting You is true, Paradise is true, Hell is true, the Prophets are true, Muhammad is true, and the occurrence of the Last Day is true. O Allah, to You I surrender. to You I put my trust. To You I believe, to You I return (repent), with Your help I fight (against the disbelievers), and to You I have faith. Therefore, forgive me my past and future sins. Also the sins that I concealed and committed openly. You are the One who gives precedence and delay. There is no god worthy of worship except You. You are my Lord, there is no god but You.

O Lord who is worthy of praise and exaltation, of which a servant is most entitled to say: And we are all Your servants. O Allah, there is nothing that can hinder what You give, nor is there anything that can give what You hinder, and the wealth of the owner of wealth does not avail him of Your punishment.”‘

“O Allah, help me to remember You, to thank You, and to do good deeds for You.

“O Allah! I ask You to be admitted to Paradise and I seek refuge with You from Hell.”

“O Allah! By Your knowledge of the unseen, and Your power over all creatures, prolong my life if life is better for me. And kill me if death is better for me according to your knowledge. I ask You for fear of You, when alone and in the presence of many people. I ask You for the right words when I am pleased and when I am angry. I ask You for simplicity, whether I am rich or poor. I also ask for the pleasure that never disappears, and the soothing of the eyes that never breaks. I also ask for the pleasure of every verdict of fate that occurs. Also the deliciousness of life after death. I also ask for the pleasure of looking at Your Face, and the longing to meet You, without any harm and fitnah that misleads at all. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith, and make us people of truth and guidance.”

“O Allah, I ask You, O Allah, testifying that You are the One True God, the only One, needing nothing, but everything needs You, begotten and unborn (neither mother nor father), and there is none like You, that You may forgive my sins. Verily, You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.”

“O Allah, I ask You that to You belongs all praise; there is no god but You, the One, with no partner. You are the Bestower of favors and the Creator of the heavens and the earth without precedent. O Lord, the Most High, the Most Gracious. O Lord of Life, Who is in charge of all things! Verily I ask You to be included in Paradise and I seek refuge with You from the punishment of Hellfire.””

25. DHIKR AFTER SAYING THE SALAM AFTER PRAYER

“There is no god but Allah, the One, with whom there is no partner. To Him belongs all kingship and all praise. He is Almighty over all things. O Allah, nothing hinders what You give and nothing gives what You hinder. And there is no use for the wealth of the one who has wealth (to exempt him) from Your (punishment).

“There is no god but Allah. He is the only one. There is no partner for Him. To Him belongs all kingship and praise. And He is Almighty over all things. There is no power and no strength except with the help of Allah. There is no god but Allah. We do not worship except Him. To Him belongs all favors, all grace, and all good flattery. There is no god but Allah, with pure worship of Him, even if the disbelievers dislike it.

“Glory be to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. And Allah is the Greatest.” Read 33 times.

“There is no god but Allah. He is the only God. There is no partner for Him. To Him belongs all the kingdom. To Him belongs all praise. And He is Almighty over all things.”

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say, ‘He is Allah, the One. Allah is the Lord on whom all things depend. He neither begets nor is begotten. And there is none equal to Him’.” (Al-Ikhlash: 1-4)

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn. From the evil of His creatures. And from the evil of the night when it becomes pitch dark. And from the evil of the sorceress who breathes on the stumps. And from the evil of the envious when he is envious’.” (Al-Falaq: 1-5)

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say, ‘I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind. The King of mankind. The worship of man. From the evil (whispering) of the devil who usually lurks. Who whispers evil into the breasts of men. From among the jinn and men'” (An-Nas: 1-6).

“Allah, there is no god worthy of worship but He who is eternally alive, who continues to take care of (His creatures): He neither slumbers nor sleeps. To Him belongs what is in the heavens and the earth. No one can intercede with Allah without His permission. Allah knows what is before them and behind them, and they know nothing of Allah’s knowledge except what He wills. The Kursi of Allah encompasses the heavens and the earth, and Allah does not find it hard to care for them, and Allah is the Highest, the Greatest.” (Al-Bagarah: 255)”

“There is no god but Allah. He is the only God. There is no partner for Him. To Him belongs all kingdoms and to Him all worship. He is the One who gives life and the death. And He is the Almighty over all things.”

To be recited 10 times after every Maghrib and Fajr prayers.”

“O Allah, I ask You for useful knowledge, lawful sustenance, and acceptable deeds.”

To be recited after the greeting of the Fajr prayer.”

26. ISTIKHARAH PRAYER

  1. Jabir ibn ‘Abdillah said, “The Messenger of Allah taught us the istikharah prayer to decide everything, just as he taught us Surat al-Our an. He said: “If anyone of you plans to do something, he should pray two rak’ahs of istikharah, then recite this prayer,

“O Allah, I ask You for the right choice with Your knowledge and I ask You for the ability (to solve my problem) with Your power. And I ask You for Your supreme grace. Indeed, You are omnipotent while I am not, You know while I do not, and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know that this matter (then mention the issue) is better for my religion, my life, and its effect on me or – the Prophet said, … in this world and the Hereafter – then determine it for me, make the way easy, then bless it. But if You know that this matter is bad for me in religion, life, and its effect on me, then remove it from me, and keep me away from it, and ordain good for me wherever good is, and make me content with it.”

Indeed, there will be no regret for anyone who consults Al-Khaliq (the Creator), and seeks the opinion of the believers, and is very careful in handling his affairs.

 Allah says,

“And consult with them in the matter. When you have made up your mind, then put your trust in Allah.” (Ali Imran: 159).

27. MORNING AND EVENING DHIKR

All praise is due to Allah alone. And may peace and blessings be upon the one after whom there is no prophet.

“I seek refuge with Allah from the temptation of the accursed devil. There is no god but He. He is the Eternal Living One who is constantly taking care of (His creatures): He neither slumbers nor sleeps. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth, and no one can offer intercession in the sight of Allah without His permission. Allah knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they know nothing of Allah’s knowledge except what He wills. The Kursi of Allah encompasses the heavens and the earth, and Allah does not find it burdensome to maintain them, and Allah is the Highest, the Greatest.” (Al-Bagarah: 255).”

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say, ‘He is Allah, the One. Allah is the Lord on whom all things depend. He neither begets nor is begotten. And there is nothing equal to Him’.” (Al-Ikhlash: 1-4)

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn. From the evil of His creatures. And from the evil of the night when it becomes pitch dark. And from the evil of the sorceresses who breathe on the stalks. And from the evil of the envious when he is envious’.” (Al-Falag: 1-5)

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind. The King of mankind. The worshiper of mankind. From the evil (whispering) of the devil who usually lurks. Who whispers evil into the breasts of men. From the jinn and mankind” (An-Nas: 1-6). Read three times.”

“We have entered the morning and the kingdom belongs only to Allah, praise be to Allah. There is no god but Allah. He is the only Lord and there is no partner for Him. To Him belongs the whole kingdom and to Him belongs all praise. He is the Almighty over all things. O my Lord, I ask You for good this day and good afterward. I seek refuge with You from evil today and evil thereafter. O my Lord! I seek refuge with You from laziness and evil in old age. O Lord! I seek refuge with You from the torment in Hell and in the grave.”

“O Allah! It is only because of You that we enter the morning and evening, only You that we live and die, and only to You that we are resurrected.”

“O Allah! You are my Lord, there is no god but You, You created me. I am your servant. I will be faithful to my covenant with You to the best of my ability.
